I Am Ready-To-Wear
I was looking through my inbox and realized I hadn’t really addressed my take on the 2013 Spring RTW collections. Here are my favorite looks from New York, Paris, London and Milan, and how they translate to my everyday life.
Dries Van Noten was gorgeous in a “I just rolled out of bed and have to get my kids to school— but with style” kind of way. It didn’t hurt that the late, great, Kurt Cobain-influenced show reminded me of my younger days when I was, well, younger. I hope I can pull this look off with the bathrobe that already hangs on my door. I’d be the chicest mom at drop-off this side of Paris.
After homework is done and the kids and I can play, Marc Jacob’s collection for Louis Vuitton would be exceptional for chess and checkers with my son, or mastering hopscotch with my daughter.
And for those back to school conferences, Haider Ackermann certainly has a “don’t mess with me or my kids” attitude. They’ll be certain to get good marks on their report cards just so the teachers won’t have to deal with my swagger.
But enough about the kids. It’s important to not neglect my husband. A few outfits would be in order to keep date-night sexy and my love life spicy. I can thank Altuzarra for filling that void. Check, please!
When school’s out and summer fun is in, Dolce and Gabanna’s 1950’s inspired collection is perfection for biking on the boardwalk of Far Rockaway with GG, riding the Wonder Wheel at Coney Island with Hillary, and biking through Prospect Park with my family and stopping for a picnic, or for a little shopping at the Farmer’s Market.
Alas, when I lay my head down at night, I will be wearing McQueen in my dreams, because my day-to-day life isn’t nearly as dreamy as Sarah Burton’s collection.
